H-I-S-T-O-R-Y (His Story)

With the passing away of a Great Leader and a Visionary I suddenly realized how important it is to know his story (HISTORY)

Knew him as a nuclear man and a great orator however Atalji was far beyond that. A poet, a journalist, a dynamic statesman and a great human being.

With the condolences pouring in not just from India but other nations too states a strong example about his secular approach.
Pakistan government and top leaders have paid respects to Atal Bihari Vajpayee and said the former Indian prime minister contributed to bringing "a change" in bilateral ties and remained a key supporter of regional cooperation for development.

Putting the nation before yourself and your family needs a lot of courage and this determination drove him to all the success that he achieved. Rightly quoted by Modiji "The man who made bold bets".
Listed below are the reasons Atalji would be fondly remembered by every citizen of this country:
·        Fast-tracking Bharat:

The roads project, the Golden Quadrilateral connected Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai through a network of highways while the Pradhanmantri Gramin Sadak Yojna was planned as a network of all-weather roads for unconnected villages across India
·        Privatisation:
Vajpayee's commitment to reducing the government role in running businesses and industry was reflected in the formation of a separate disinvestment ministry. The most important disinvesments were Bharat Aluminium Company (BALCO) and Hindustan Zinc, Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited and VSNL
·        Reining in the fiscal profligacy

By introducing the Fiscal Responsibility Act that aimed to bring down fiscal deficit the public-sector savings rose from -0.8% of GDP in FY 2000, to 2.3% in FY 2005.
·        Telecom revolution

The Vajpayee government's New Telecom Policy unleashed the telecom revolution in India

·        Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan

It was a social scheme to provide universal access to free elementary education for children aged 6-14 years. Within four years of its launch in 2001, the number of out-of-school children dropped by 60 per cent.

All of these initiatives brought about stabilization in the government.
His tenure also saw India’s second nuclear test at Pokharan on May 11, 1998. A spate of trade and other sanctions by US and other countries followed.

Such was his personality! Atalji you will be fondly remembered in each of our memories and in your own words “Hone na hone ka karam iss tarah chalta rahega hum hain, hum rahenge yeh bhram bhi sada palta rahega”.
